Senior Accountant

LOCATION: ABERDEEN, SD

Pay Range DOE:  $75,000 to $100,000 Annually

Standard Office hours are 8:00 - 5:00 M - F.   Weekends free for your personal and family enjoyment!  Tax season will have a heightened requirement for this position.

Position Specifics:

Schwan Financial Group is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant to join our expert team in our Aberdeen, SD office.  Our family based culture is looking for the positive attitude that can enhance the ultimate customer experience and work together as a team.  This person will play an important role with our tax and accounting team.  Must have good communication skills and be willing to provide support for client inquiries with exceptional care and attention to details.  We prefer you to work at our Aberdeen office and may consider a hybrid remote situation for the right individual.  If you are this person, we have competitive pay, a family based culture and excellent benefit package.  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • CPA Certification
  • 3-5 years’ experience in tax returns
  • Self-starter with a positive attitudeExcellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and professionalism
  • Ability to inspire teamwork and meet the needs of our people, clients, and the firm.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet internal and client deadlines.
  • Ability to use current technology and tools to enhance the effectiveness of deliverables and service.
  • Maintain strict client confidentiality.
  • Experience with CCH ProSystem FX preferred and/or strong QuickBooks skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and ProSytems Tax.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Accumulate, analyze, and process financial accounting data in order to prepare tax plans, prepare tax returns, estimated tax payments, and financial statements.
  • Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for partnerships, trusts, corporations, and individuals.
  • Assist the team in gathering information and drafting a response for various IRS and state notices received by our clients.
  • Gather financial information and prepare tax filings for various reporting requirements (Form 1099-MISC, Form 1042, and FBAR filings, payroll reports)
  • Ensure client adherence to compliance-related deadlines such as extensions, tax estimate requirements, tax return filings and other tax related services.
  • Maintain communications with our Tax, Accounting, Risk Management, Portfolio, and Trust Management teams regarding ongoing tax and planning issues.
  • Understand and research basic to moderately complex tax concepts and their application to client situations and effectively communicate results with client.
  • Assist with the development of in-house tax training programs.
  • Identify expanded service opportunities with existing clients through client and peer networking.
  • Develop and nurture external referral networks for prospective clients.
 

Compensation

$75,000 to $100,000 per year
